About National Museum of the American Indian

The George Gustav Heye Center (GGHC) is the New York branch of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian (the main branch is in Washington, DC). The GGHC is on the first and second floors of the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House. The museum presents changing exhibitions that celebrate and reaffirm the lifeways, languages, literature, history, and art of the Native peoples of the Americas. Diverse live programs.
