Go Back and Earn Your Diploma with a High School Completion Scholarship As part of its Clinton Global Initiative “Commitment to Action”, SER Career Academy has announced a High School Completion Scholarship Contest offering 15 scholarships to Career Online High School to combat high school dropouts in the U.S. High School Completion Scholarship recipients will have full costs covered to earn their accredited High School Diploma (including transfer of any previous high school credits), as well as career training in one of eight career certificate tracks of their choice: •Childcare and Education •Certified Protection Officer •Certified Transportation Services •Homeland Security •Office Management •Retail Customer Service Skills •Food and Customer Service Skills •General Career Preparation Career Online High School’s core mission is to re-engage youth and adults back into the educational system in order to prepare them for new career opportunities and admission into a post-secondary training institution by providing AdvancED/SACS accredited online high school education. COHS is an 18-month, self-directed, teacher-supported high school program with curriculum that has been uniquely designed for the adult dropout population. COHS incorporates wrap around services that include certified academic coaches, certified academic support instructors, and a technology platform that provides key data analytics and tools to support targeted remediation and retention. COHS has found that a large number of high school dropouts have undergone “educational trauma,” and thus, COHS has designed a student engagement and instructional model built for student success. The program design begins with the fundamental premise that ALL students can learn and succeed. This is your chance to go back and graduate with an easy to win High School Completion Scholarship covering the full cost of tuition and materials for all coursework required to graduate with an accredited HS Diploma and specialized career training certificate. Contest Rules For those interested in applying for a High School Completion Scholarship, simply fill out the contest form found at the link below by 8/15/14 and submit one of the following: Persuasive Video: Submit 2-5 minute video that shows who you are, why a scholarship to complete high school will benefit you, and what you hope to achieve in the future. Persuasive Essay: Submit persuasive essay of approximately 700 – 1000 words describing who you are, why a scholarship to complete high school will benefit you, and what you hope to achieve in the future. All students entering Smart Horizons Career Online High School must be at least 16 years of age prior to the first day of class and have successfully completed the 8th Grade at an accredited institution. Minors will be required to obtain parental consent to enrollment and acknowledgement of responsibility. Selection Criteria Judges will rate the contestants based on how well they convey their story, need, personality, and commitment to completing their high school education.
