"The Diamond District finally has a finer dining option, thanks to the recent opening of Re Sette. Owner Yagur Sheinman was a gold and diamond importer, and his sense of gothic opulence runs throughout the rich, dimly lit space – think cupis and candelabras. (Upstairs is a candlelit lounge and the 28-foot-long “king’s table,” available for holding court next to the fireplace.) The newly-opened eatery already has star cred – Fred Durst had dinner here recently to discuss hi new line of baseball caps. Executive Chef Luis Gordillo's elaborate antipasto display is on view near the wood-burning brick oven, including stuffed artichoke hearts, marinated calamari, house-made mozzarella wrapped in San Daniele prosciutto and other rustic Italian favorites. You’ll need two Del Re pizzas to start, since the thin-crust pie – topped with gorgonzola, prosciutto, caramelized onion and fig jam – is the menu’s clear winner. Portions aren't small, allowing you to share an order of the porcini tortelloni in a heart-stopping mascarpone-walnut sauce, in addition to carpaccio and the signature Aragostina salad: Greens with mango, beets and pistachios in a lemon dressing.
