Very important for employers who use employment agencies. This is not for all employment agencies but for the majority of them. Most of the time the Staffing/Employment Agency will run a quick check through a national criminal and sex offender database. In most cases they only use municipal court or clerk of courts online searches, which are free. The problem with this is that someone may be from a county where they don't provide online searches. If something pops up they will ask you to verify or deny the alleged convictions before ordering further searches. The Agency should know if they are the first check or the final check. Companies that use an agency SHOULD conduct a more thorough search for POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES. We have clients that are amazed at the potential employees that they recieve from these temp agencies that have records but, the temp agency said they were clear of any records.
