Christina Contreras was raised in the Rio Grande Valley, just minutes from the Texas–Mexico border. From an early age, she witnessed the challenges faced by families living without legal status—an experience that sparked her lifelong passion for immigrant rights. Seeing members of her community endure exploitation and limited access to opportunity motivated her to pursue a career rooted in advocacy and justice. While earning her law degree from Texas A&M University School of Law in Fort Worth, Christina developed a deep understanding of the systemic barriers embedded in U.S. immigration law. She came to recognize how overwhelming the process can be for immigrants navigating it alone, particularly when facing the federal government without experienced legal representation.
