Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BNIA) announces that the second and final phase of the full reconstruction of the main runway will take place this summer. The Town of Amherst Community Diversity Commission is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bassett Park, 359 Klein Road, Amherst. This free, family friendly, event will commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the community. Renowned Buffalo Council Woman Zeneta Everhart will deliver a keynote address. Town of Amherst Highway Superintendent Steve Floss has announced that the Amherst Highway Department will spend $3.2 million this year to pave and repair 60 Town roads. That money will come from Amherst’s Capital Improvement Project (CIP) bond money as well as funds from New York State that provides money through the CHIPS roads programs.
