Teen Volunteers read to your child at the Belleville Public Library. This a great way to have fun reading while working on reading and socializing skills.

Homework Heroes

Teen Volunteers help your child with their homework assignments at the Belleville Public Library. Small children (under 10) can get the help they need. Older kids get volunteer hours and reinforce the basics while helping a child.

Reading to therapy pets helps bolster children’s self confidence, which reduces their anxiety.

Please join us and our friends at Creature Comfort Pet Therapy, in the Children’s Room, for your chance to read to a therapy dog.

Registration is required. Please visit or call the Children’s Department to register for your 15 minute time slot.

This is a new Opt-In self service function for those of you who want to keep track of the books and other items you have borrowed. Simply login into your account through the library catalog and make the change. This new function is available now.

About The Library

The Belleville Public Library has been in existence for over 100 years and is the jewel of Washington Avenue which runs the course of the Township of Belleville, NJ between Nutley and Newark.

It serves a diverse population of approximately 36,000 residents and is located less than 10 minutes from Essex County’s beautiful Branch Brook Park.

The library provides a host of programs and activities for all ages and serves a variety of cultures.

We provide access to a collection of about 36,000 books and other materials for leisure as well as personal edification.
