Today, June 3rd, is World Cycling Day, which is meant to raise awareness about cycling's numerous benefits. At Sourcebynet, we recognise that cycling is enjoyable and has many advantages. It tends to impact the environment and your health positively and statistically, leading to better well-being. One of Sourcebynet’s employees, UK Sales Manager James Sharp, is cycling-mad and leads by example. Cycling has been witnessing a global resurgence, and we're excited to see this trend gaining momentum within our company. As we approach the final stages of our ISO 14064-1 audit, Sourcebynet is actively exploring ways to reduce our environmental impact. Say “Hello” to Suzy Macleod, our new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)   A seasoned senior executive, Suzy joins Sourcebynet after a vibrant licensing career involving several lifestyle brands and celebrities, before joining 20th Century Fox where she worked on The Simpsons, Family Guy and Ice Age. Her brief stint at Fox led to a 12-year career at Disney where she held multiple roles, culminating in launching the Disney Home Project in 2020 as the EMEA Director of Home.   Suzy brings a wealth of senior leadership experience to Sourcebynet, aiming to position the company as an award-winning global leader in licensed homewares. She is committed to showcasing the unique potential and appeal of Sourcebynet's approach, leveraging our global reach to surprise and delight consumers worldwide.   Suzy plans to spearhead a series of internal and external initiatives to further integrate Sourcebynet into the licensing industry, enhance awareness of our expertise, and expand our global retail presence with an exciting new approach.   Reflecting on her decision to join Sourcebynet, Suzy shared, "After an enriching experience at Disney and supporting a Barcelona-based tech start-up with their licensing strategy, I was ready for a new challenge. When the opportunity arose to join Sourcebynet and build a global brands division, I didn’t hesitate. Hooray for Biodiversity! But why is it so important to support? Today, we’re celebrating the International Day for Biodiversity, a reminder of our special connection to the natural world and our urgent need to protect it. This year's theme, "Be Part of the Plan," resonates deeply with us at Sourcebynet, as we recognise biodiversity's crucial role in sustaining our lives and livelihoods. Biodiversity is more than just the vast array of plants, animals, and microorganisms that live on our planet. It encompasses genetics within species and the ecosystems that host countless interactions between their inhabitants, including us humans. From ecosystem-based approaches to climate solutions and sustainable livelihoods, biodiversity is the foundation for the greater good. The more we take care of it, the more we can prosper. The furniture industry is actively evolving to address biodiversity concerns. With the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) here to stay, companies are now required to disclose their policies, risks, and impacts related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. At Sourcebynet, we know that many of our products are made from materials that may contribute to deforestation and habitat loss. We take this responsibility seriously and ensure strict alignment with the EUTR & EUDR to mitigate any potential harm. A fun fact: Our product sustainability manager shares his birthday with the International Day for Biodiversity.
