Due to their size, this nose seems like it takes up most of the Honduran white bat’s deal with.

Honduran White Bat Fact #3:

These bats stay underneath the leaves of the heliconia herb and then use it towards predators including owls and snakes.

There are 22 kinds of bats which use leaves to make tents. Nevertheless, the Honduran white bat is the only one that specifically uses the leaves of the heliconia herb to do this. These leaf camping tents are usually built by females, but can be constructed by males. They are bitten in half by the bats and allowed to collapse lower inside a V-shape that provides the bats a secure place to roost beneath during the day. The leaves protect the bats from predators like snakes and owls, and also helps to keep them safe from the sunlight and heavy rains of the rainforest.
